Surfrider Foundation

Surfrider Foundation Europe is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 by surfer Tom Curren with headquarters in Biarritz, France. Its main objective is to defend, protect, enhance and sustainably manage the ocean, the coastline, the waves and the people who enjoy them.

Specifically, it is in charge of: Protecting the environment and enhancing the value of natural heritage through the fight against climate change and pollution.

Educating and raising awareness to promote good eco-sustainable habits
To inform and mobilize by making environmental issues known, encouraging dialogue and debate through the dynamization and promotion of the network of members, volunteers and supporters.

The organization consists of several territorial offices, one of which is located in Donostia-San Sebastián. This office is part of the Spanish delegation, Surfrider España. Currently, the organization is in charge of developing activities focused on three main SFE themes: impact by marine waste, heritage and waves and climate change. The actions are developed within the framework of campaigns, programmes and projects.
