Bilbao is an industrial and port city in the north of Spain, surrounded by green mountains. It is the capital of the Basque Country and its downtown is full of skyscrapers. This city is known by its famous museum, Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, it caused the revitalization after its opening in 1997.
The Town Hall understands all its green areas as a main resource that improve the life quality and give more value to the city. Bilbao was for a long time the financial core of the Basque Country thanks to the commerce with Castilian products. It was’t until the 19th century when it suffered a huge development due to the iron mines and its industry, that promote maritime traffic, port activity and boat construction.
